After a victorious win Apple is now seeking an immediate ban on eight Samsung phones. Apple has wasted no time in identifying the eight older-model smartphones including Galaxy S2 and Droid Charge.
Actually Apple’s lawsuit had claimed on 28 devices, but most of them are no longer available in the world’s largest mobile market. However, Samsung Galaxy S III was not included in the trial, but now jury has validated Apple’s patent on features and design elements, and the US base company can file the case against Galaxy S III. According to Legal experts, Apple doesn’t need to file a new petition against S III, they can include it in a “contempt proceeding” which moves much faster.
Jefferies & Co analyst Peter Misek have said that “the evidence and weight of the case are heavily in Apple’s favour”. They are also expecting of two-third chances of a strong action against Samsung products.
On the other hand Samsung is taking all necessary measures to keep its product available in US market. A source has revealed that Samsung has already started working with US carriers about modifying infringing features to keep products in the market should injunctions be granted.
By winning the case Apple has strengthen its position in the market. iPhone 5 is expected to be launched on 12 September and this could also cement Apple dominance as companies using Google Inc.’s Android operating system.
