Lenovo is the world second largest computer manufacturer and it is all set to launch smartphones in India. Bloomberg Business Week has reported that the company will launch smartphones in India, the Philippines and Indonesia to gain more heft and experience before entering developed markets such as the US.
Lenovo had launched the smartphones segment in China around two years ago. Lenovo has overtaken Apple from its second place in China, which is the world’s largest mobile market according to IDC data.
The recent data has shown that LePhone from Lenovo has taken 11 per cent of market share in china in the second quarter. It went up from a single digit percentage in the first quarter when it was ranked 7th. However Samsung Electronics has maintained its lead in the Chinese smartphone market with share of 16 per cent. Apple is on 4th position in the Chinese market.
Samsung and Nokia leading Global handset vendors have been chasing to increase their market share in China, where there are more than 1 billion mobile users. China is all set to overtake US as the world’s largest smartphone market this year.
Research house Gartner has recently said that Lenovo is the biggest vendor of personal computers in India.
